LCU volleyball player stricken during match, taken into surgery

Lubbock Christian University volleyball player Malori Maddox was in surgery Tuesday night at a Wichita Falls hospital after being stricken during the Lady Chaparrals’ match at Midwestern State.

Several social media posts said Maddox was diagnosed with a brain bleed.

LCU spokesman Warren McNeill said he could not confirm the veracity of those reports, but confirmed that Maddox was in surgery shortly before 10 p.m.

“I do know that she was not feeling well, because she thought she had a migraine,” said McNeill, LCU’s vice president for university relations.
